My thoughts about Mattie is nothing but positive. Mattie is an independent woman just like Taylor running a Tire shop called Jesus Is The Lord Tires without the help or anyone or without a support system. Mattie is a very caring, kind and friendly person through her actions of providing Taylor with some coffee and peanut-butter crackers to Turtle as Mattie invites Taylor and Turtle to her shop to cheer up Taylor from her miserable day she had driving from Oklahoma and ending up in Tucson, Arizona. Also the Mattie is good with kids as she shows it by entertaining Turtle in ways that surprised and shocked Taylor. Also when Taylor admitted and confessed that she couldn't afford new tires, Mattie didn't really care about giving a sale price for the tires.
The role I believe that Mattie will play is that she will be more of a directing or leading person and positive role model for Taylor in this novel, keeping in mind the fact that she has lived in Tucson her whole life and knows all about it while Taylor on the other hand has just arrived in Tucson, Arizona. Taylor could also possibly come to Mattie for assistance in maybe taking care of Turtle in the future and in which Mattie would most likely help her out in the fact she is already a friendly individual herself.

She could also possibly give Taylor a job too and try to help her out in that way. She seems like she will be a good friend to her and a support system for Taylor and her daughter.

Having her kind personality, she welcomes the main character her to the state of Arizona and she helps assists the character in the chapter a free care for her car. She helps the character's problem of having to look out for Turtle by listening of what the character went through, with the addition of offering some support towards the character. I believe that her role towards the entire story is to be that one character who gives most of the support to Taylor and mostly Lou Ann. When having the kindness that relates to the mother of Taylor's, I think that she'll be the character they'll give the most care for the three main characters and for showing her to give care mostly for the babies they all have.

I thought it was interesting that she did not bat an eye towards Taylor's choice of the name Turtle and I think it shows how kind and friendly she is. She has the qualities of a good support system just like Taylor's mom and she has already showed that she is willing to help them.

Throughout the rest of the novel I think we are going to see Mattie help raise and take care of Turtle, since she is experienced with working with kids. Also since Mattie wants to make sure everyone is happy, I think she is going to help Taylor find a job and the happiness that she is looking for. Mattie is overall a great positive role model and leader towards Taylor and Turtle and I think she will help them in a lot of ways. Lastly, I think Mattie might also have an impact of Lou Ann and her child's life, since they live in the same city and since Mattie is a very welcoming and caring person.

I feel like she may have a different side to her though because of the weird stuff she had, like the cup with the rabbits or the calendar with the dude in the headdress. But that could just be her husband's though. When she said that she had "something like" grandbabies, it seemed kinda suspicious. Maybe she's keeping a secret I don't know. I didn't get the impression that she would become important in the novel, she seemed more just like a character that shows up once and doesn't become relevant ever again. Maybe she will offer taylor a job and taylor will work for her the rest of the novel idk.

All in all, I really appreciate and like Mattie as a character. She was very sweet towards Turtle and Taylor especially with the way that she talked to them. I like the way she wasn't as curious about Taylor when she said her daughter's name. I think that Mattie has a cordial personality which makes it easy to talk to her. It's very sweet the way she know so much about kids and she definitely understands them. One example of this was when she knew how hungry and thirsty Turtle was. Even when Roger was somewhat bossy towards her, she was still treating him the same way she treated Taylor. I think that Mattie can play an important role in the novel for Taylor as she helps her on her journey, Turtle as she protects her and nurtures her, and maybe even Lou Ann as she helps her become a more positive person.

Mattie is a kind and very generous character. She always has her eyes on Turtle most of the time, but was still caring towards Taylor. Turtle was probably the only reason that Mattie accept Taylor into paying her to pick bugs off of the purple plants. Mattie sensed that Taylor was in doubt when she told her that she didn't have many skills to work at the tire shop. This is another big thing about Mattie: she helps out with people at their darkest times in any way she can. She can also support Taylor and Turtle until they are on their way elsewhere.

She is a very positive person and with the self-profiling prophecy, Taylor and Turtle will turn out to be even more positive and strong-willed.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on Mattie is that she us a very kind and caring person> she is able to keep other people's feeling in consideration and take care of them. I think she will be a big support system for Taylor and Turtle and teach them what it means to be independent since she is herself. I hope she is a role model for the two of them.
ReplyDeleteMattie is a kind and very generous character. She always has her eyes on Turtle most of the time, but was still caring towards Taylor. Turtle was probably the only reason that Mattie accept Taylor into paying her to pick bugs off of the purple plants. Mattie sensed that Taylor was in doubt when she told her that she didn't have many skills to work at the tire shop. This is another big thing about Mattie: she helps out with people at their darkest times in any way she can. She can also support Taylor and Turtle until they are on their way elsewhere.
